For the first time in the history of the Ayew Family, former Black Stars captain Abedi Ayew Pele will be facing his sons Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew in a major football match.
The Vodafone Unity Match scheduled for June 8th(today) and 11th(Monday) will see star-studded World XI team face Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars in Kumasi and Accra respectively.
Abedi Pele was announced coach of the World XI team few days ago.
The Legendary Abedi Ayew Pele will stand as the coach of the World XI side that face the Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars.
His two sons, Andre and Jordan who are set to play for the Black Stars will then face their dad as both will lead the attack for the 4-time Africa champions.
The Vodafone Unity Match is an initiative of Peace Ambassador Stephen Appiah to canvass for peace and unity among Ghanaians towards the 2016 general elections.
The games are meant to campaign for peace before, during and after the November 2016 General elections in Ghana. The initiative has received tremendous support from the National Peace Council as well as major stakeholders in the 2016 elections.
According to reports, Football icons such as William Gallas, Dwight Yorke, Patrick Kluyvert, Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Sol Campbell, George Boateng, Jermain Defoe, Simao and Emile Heskey will all play in the 2016 Vodafone Unity Games.
Moreover, we have gotten hints that President John Mahama will also play in the upcoming VUM. This shows his level of interest and support of the Stephen Appiah initiative. According to the reports, the president will play on Monday, the 11th. However, we are yet to know if he’ll play on the World XI side or for the Black Stars.
