A critical analysis of the students overall academic performance, has undoubtedly placed Accra Girls SHS the best high schools in Greater Accra.
Speaking at the schools’s 29th Speech and Prize-giving Day tagged, Promoting High Academic Standards and Entrepreneurship Among the Youth,” the Headmistress of the School, Mrs Joyce Acolatse, said the School was voted as the overall best Senior High School in the Greater-Accra Region for 2015, by the Ghana Education Service Ranking Awards Scheme.
Mrs Joyce Acolatse indicated that the achievement was based on the hard work and discipline of students, staff and management.
The headmistress touted the performance of students in the school.
Accra Girls Senior High School made it to the semi-finals of the 2016 Capital Market Week Competition for the Senior High Schools in the Region in October 2016. The National Investment Quiz organised by the Securities and Exchange Commission awarded certificates to our two contestants, she said.
The school’s excellent performance has also caused it to become a centre for attraction to citizens in the country, as it constantly records very high entries each session. According to the headmistress, over 500 students have been posted to the school.
She appealed to the Ministry of Education to provide boarding accommodation as well as other facilities needed to create a more conducive learning environment for the students.
Also speaking at the event, Ms Lankai Quarcoopome, an alumnus of Accra Girls SHS, spoke on the rights of every child to basic education. She raised calls to encourage young people to go to school.
She also said Ghanaians must try to reach the target of reducing early school dropouts, because education is paramount in shaping young people’s attitude and behaviour in the society.
Ms Quarcoopome urged the students to participate in other school activities such as sports aside academic work, which could teach them to be good team players and very disciplined.
More alumni of the school also gave very inspiring speeches at the event.
