President Mahama Lays More Emphasis On Skill Acquisition; See What he Says…


President John Dramani Mahama is still emphasizing the need for Ghanaians to acquire more skills that will enable them take advantage of the numerous job opportunities his government is creating across the country. He has therefore encouraged the youths of Sanzule in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region to do same.

The president was at the region to commission a new onshore gas receiving facility. The facility is part of a $7 billion project that is being undertaken by Italian oil company ENI Spa, in collaboration with Vitol Energy.

Addressing the Sanzule youths of the Western Region, the president urged them to work hard at acquiring the necessary skills that will help them take advantage of the job opportunities that are emerging in the region.

President Mahama told the people of the area that well mapped out efforts  are being made by his government to ensure that a lot of jobs are created. According to him,“The Petroleum Commission is working with the operators of the project ENI and Vittol, to ensure that in addition to their corporate social responsibility projects, many more jobs are created in this community and nearby communities during the construction and the operation of the facility.”

Mahama therefore urged the people, especially the youths in the region to take advantage of these opportunities by acquiring the required skills. He also encouraged them to avail themselves of these opportunities and use the opportunities to re-emphasize the importance of skills acquisition.

The President further assured the people that more jobs will be created in the region. He however indicated that without the requisite skills, training and qualifications, they cannot take advantage of them.

We would recall that John Mahama has since the commencement of his ‘Accounting to the People’ Tour been emphasizing the importance of skill acquisition. In one of the interviews he granted during the tour, the president had said that all those who are complaining that the economy is bad are probably people who lack the skills to grab the juicy opportunities being created by his government.
