Out of his love for Kotoko, CEO of Afro Arab Group of Companies has donated boots to the club before their match with Hearts of Oak on Monday. The boots which turned out to be ‘lucky boots’ saw Kotoko crush its rivals, Hearts of Oaks, in a match which seemed more like a clash.
The Afro Arab Group of Companies CEO, Alhaji Abdul Salamu Amadou, who was so excited with the outcome of the match promised to reward the team with a mouthwatering amount which is still undisclosed. At the team’s hotel after the tiring game, the Arab Group CEO gave some amount in US Dollars to the team for their glorious win against their rivals.
The interesting part of this is that Kotoko’s recent win over Hearts amounts to the sixteenth time they have beaten Hearts at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Asante Kotoko’s victory came to be when Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye scored an own goal, automatically leaving the Kotokos with three points. It was the remarkable goal that saw the team through the entire game.
Kotokos who had lost 1-0 at home last week to bottom-club New Edubiase United, came back very prepared. Luckily for them they did not have to do all the work to attain victory.
It all happened when the Burkinabe goalie failed to control a back pass given from centre-back Richard Akrofi.
The Kotokos were promised so many interesting gifts by their loyal followers after their win. The gift from Alhaji Abdul Salam happens to be just one of very many packages the team were promised. According to reports, Life Patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also promised that each Asante Kotoko player will pocket GH¢1,000 as winning bonus for beating their rivals.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who is also the club owner had made the promise about a week ago when he had also handed over the keys to a new 30-seater Yutong bus to them at the Manhyia Palace.
