Agya Koo defends John Dumelo and other NDC celebrity supporters, saying that everyone has a right to opt for a choice they deem fit ahead of the elections

Comedian cum actor, Agya Koo has called on Ghanaians to stop criticising actors, John Dumelo and Christopher Bonney aka Mr. Beautiful, for endorsing President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The comedian is of the opinion that NDC celebrity supporters like those mentioned above, opted for a choice that they deemed fit and must be respected for that.

The actor who just recently declared support for Nana Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the public to respect celebrities who wish to go public with their support for contending political parties, ahead of this year’s elections. Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme on Wednesday, Agya Koo defends John Dumelo and the other NDC celeb supporters, maintaining that they are only exercising their rights.

Also pointing Salinko who is supporting the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the actor explained that such act is only a matter of choice, and should not warrant insults from the public.

John Dumelo, Mr. Beautiful and a whole lot more in the entertainment industry have been lashed by the public for dabbling into politics, through their aggressive campaigns for the ruling NDC.  Agya Koo as well, has had his own share of criticisms, following his recent endorsement of the NPP.

But the local movie gem has explained that it is their right to pick any contending party of their choice, as well as the way to go about their campaign for them. Agya Koo on Wednesday [September 21], addressed a press conference to declare support for the NPP flagbearer for the 2016 elections. Amid speculations of bribery by the opposition party, he maintains that the harsh economic condition in the country is his main reason for throwing his weight behind Nana Addo.
