Ayariga sacks his running mate and secretary following their endorsement of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga has suspended the party’s Vice Presidential Candidate and General secretary, Razak Kojo Opoku and Emmanuel Carl Bartels respectively.
This move by Ayariga comes as a result of a statement released Sunday morning by the two aforementioned members of the APC executives, officially declaring their support for the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo.
In the statement, the party pledged an unequivocal support for Akufo-Addo, stating that they shall ‘seriously’ campaign for the NPP throughout the remaining days of electioneering.
However, Ayariga has declared null and void his party’s endorsement of the NPP, describing it as a propaganda which should be ignored. He officially re-announced the party’s schedule to declare their support for any of the seven presidential candidates on Monday, November 28 at the Aviation Social Centre.
He stated that aside this decision which has the support of the National Executive committee and the National Delegates Congress of the APC (the highest decision making body of the Party), “any other news of APC in support of the NPP is a mere propaganda and is null and void”.
Moreover, as a disciplinary reaction to the divisive move made by the APC executive members, Ayariga sacks the two individuals (the party’s Gen. Secretary and Veep candidate) who signed the document that endorsed Akufo-Addo. This was made known in a statement released and signed by the APC leader.
Below is the short statement:
