This is definitely good news to Ghanaians. Ghana has risen three places to the 38th position in the latest FIFA world ranking released on Thursday. With this, Ghana automatically has regained 3rd position in Africa behind Algeria and AFCON holders, Cote d’Ivoire who are 1st and 2nd respectively. Senegal and Egypt close out the top 5.

A total of 171 games were taken into account for the April edition of the FIFA rankings, which includes 51 qualifiers for Russia 2018, 60 continental qualifiers and 60 international friendlies.
Ghana which came 38th in the world with 693 points was 41st in the previous ranking. In this new FIFA World Ranking, Argentina, taking over from Belgium, is now the number one ranked team in the world after moving from number two. From Number One Belgium have dropped to Number two, while Chile, Colombia, and Germany, close up the top five. Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Uruguay and England close out the top 10.
Nigeria dropped five spots to 67th position after failing to qualify for 2017 African Nations Cup. The Black Stars’ aggressiveness continues to pay off for the country as we can see in the ranking released by the world governing body.
