Chelsea FC seems to be interested in Ghana’s Gyan but are unlikely to match his current wages
There have been circulating rumours of Premier League giants Chelsea FC considering a move to sign Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan from Chinese club Shanghai SIPG. This follows news of the Chinese side wanting to let go of the A-list footballer.
Recent reports have revealed that the Chinese club wants to offload the wages of the 30-year-old who has been hugely affected by series of injuries he has sustained in recent times. His series of injuries have led to the star being unable to meet up to expectation at the club despite his whopping 227,000 pounds wage which made him the sixth highest paid player in the world.
Already, the Chinese side are reportedly lining up Zenit St. Petersburg hit-man, Hulk as a possible replacement for Ghana’s Gyan, and are looking forward to offloading the striker, either on a permanent or a temporary basis.
But then, Chelsea FC seems to be interested in the injury ravaged Gyan as has been reported by caughtoffside.com, but the English club are unlikely to match his current wages. If this turns out to be true, it simply means the Black Star would return to English football, where he featured for Sunderland from 2010 to 2012 and scored 10 goals in 34 league appearances.
The former Sunderland player joined Shanghai SIPG in July 2015. Since he joined the Chinese club, he has sustained series of injuries leaving the club management no choice but to let him go barely one year after the signing of his 2-year contract with them.
Is there really hope for Gyan at Chelsea? We will bring you more information on this as it unfolds.
