It happened that the wife of ex-Ghanaian footballer, John Paintsil lodged a complaint against her husband at the East Legon District Police Command for allegedly stealing her car.
Subsequently, the couple reported on invitation at the station Tuesday evening for interrogation.
However, John Paintsil who felt the police were taking sides with his wife became uncooperative and unwilling to give out the required information, and even decided to walk out on the police. As a result of this, the District Police Commander, DSP Emmanuel Basintale ordered his arrest to enable them get a statement from him.
This instruction greatly infuriated Paintsil and a fuss ensued. In the heat of the scuffle, the footballer left a sound slap on the right eye of district police commander.
Consequently, with collective efforts, the police put him behind the bars.
The assaulted Police Commander is reportedly receiving medical treatments, while the matter is still under investigation.
It could be recalled that few months ago, Pinstsil had reportedly assaulted his wife; an incident that also landed them at the East Legon Police station.
Following the incident, it was also reported that the footballer’s wife, Richlove Paintsil filed a divorce against him at an Accra High Court.
It was then gathered from a source close to Mrs Paintsil that the footballer’s wife have been put through a lot of stress and trauma in her marriage.
John having allegedly done some unthinkable things like traveling to South Africa on a new deal without informing his wife, putting up their Trasacco Valley home for sale on the internet without her knowledge, not remitting for his family’s upkeep, etc, Riclove demanded for separation.
However, considering the usual consequences of such legal action, John Paintsil has refused to sign the divorce papers.
