The President who tried to show his softer side to Ghanaians, went almost lovestruck as he described his feelings for the First Lady. Concluding his speech at the NDC manifesto launch in Sunyani on Saturday, Mahama was full of praise for his wife, for sticking by him through good and difficult times. Though his assertions might seem like couples’ everyday sweet nothings, there are some lines that showed a man, who truly loves his wife and is proud of her.

For every woman, there is nothing like her man publicly appreciating her… it’s priceless.

Hear Mahama:

“I wish to also express my love and appreciation to my number one supporter, companion, comforter, and friend.”

Having made this statement, Mahama went ahead to emphasize how his wife has supported him all 24 years of their marriage. He praised her for being there for him amid all the drama that comes with his career.

“I wish to thank my in-laws – people of the Brong Ahafo Region – for giving me such a beautiful and hardworking woman as my wife.”

Mahama also took out time to thank his in-laws for letting him marry Lordina. The President went ahead to make a promise to his in-laws; to continue to treasure her till the day he dies. The extremely touching statement by Mahama, shows that though there might be ups and downs in their marriage, he cherishes what he has with Lordina.

There have been several reports indicting Mahama for promiscuity, but from the couple’s constant defence for each other when such reports surface, it shows that what they have is stronger than whatever challenges that may come their way.

Though the fact still remains vague, rumours that Mahama had other children with other women have continued to linger; but that has not changed for a second, the way the President feels about his wife.
