Hajia Abiba Nnaba, Mother of President John Mahama has been reported dead. Mahama’s mother reportedly died on Tuesday June 14. This was revealed by the Communications Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah. At the moment, the cause of her death has not been known, as the family has not released any statement concerning her death.
Following the death of Mahama’s mother, the president who commenced his Greater Accra region Accounting to the People tour Tuesday, has suspended it for the moment. It is believed that as at the time he started the tour yesterday, the death had not occurred.
According to reports, late Hajia Abiba’s body is expected to be flown to Busunu from Accra today for burial, in line with Islamic tradition. Sources have also disclosed that the President will be flying to Damango in the Northern Region today [Wednesday] for the the burial.
Meanwhile, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo has extended his condolence to President Mahama, following the death of his mother, Abiba Nnaba. Nana Addo in a tweet said,
I extend my condolences to @JDMahama and his family on the passing of his mother, Madam Abiba Nnaba. May she rest in perfect peace.
Hajia Abiba is survived by six children including Mahama. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
