Mahama Begins Campaign in Western Region Today

Mahama’s Western region campaign will last for five days, after which he will end the tour with a rally at Sekondi, before returning to Accra.

President John Dramani Mahama will begin his campaign for a second term in office in the Western Region today [Tuesday]. President Mahama’s campaign comes a day after the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), officially launched her campaign in Cape Coast, Central Region. Maham’s campaign tour of the region, will be the first phase of a series of his regional tours.

The incumbent NDC on August 14, officially presented Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, as presidential candidate and running mate respectively, ahead of the elections. The NDC also presented parliamentary candidates for all 275 constituencies, and the campaign team for the 2016 general elections to the people.



Having launched the campaign, the President will begin his campaign tour from the Western Region. Mahama is expected to visit markets, schools and a number of government projects in the region, as he tries to convince Ghanaians to give him a second term. The President is equally expected to visit 16 constituencies in the region; where he and his party will be touting the achievement of the Mahama-led government in the last four years, as well as solicit for votes in the general elections.

According to reports, Mahama will make his first stop on the campaign trail at Agona Nkwanta. Members of the ruling party have expressed their confidence in their flagbearer as he begins his campaign tour. According to the National Campaign Coordinator for the party, Kofi Adams, the President whom has proved to the people that he deserves a second term, will win their votes come December.
