Once More, MzVee Is Nominated For BET Awards… This Year’s Category Will Amaze You


And MzVee still remains the very first Ghanaian female to be nominated at the BET awards.

The ‘Borkor Borkor’ singer has been nominated for the ‘Best International Act Africa’ category at this year’s  BET awards slated for June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The announcement was made on the official Instagram account of the BET Africa page and Mzvee was the only Ghanaian to be nominated this year.

She was nominated alongside seven other African artistes for the category “Best International Act Africa”. They are; AKA (South Africa), Black Coffee (South Africa), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Serge Beynaud (Cote D’ivoire), Wizkid (Nigeria) and Yemi Alade (Nigeria).


This makes it her second nomination for the BET awards. It will be recalled that the 23-year-old singer was nominated for the Best International Artist Viewers’ Choice Award in last year’s awards.

The ‘Natural Girl’ hit singer on seeing the nominations had taken to social media to express her joy, and thank those who made it possible. “I can’t say enough thank yous** for all the love and support!!! my fans are everything! Thank you!!!! @bet_intl“, she tweeted.

BET awards is a platform where Black artists, entertainers, and athletes are recognized in a variety of categories for their achievements. The nominations are selected by BET’s Voting Academy, which is comprised of fans and an esteemed group of entertainment professionals in the fields of television, film, music, social media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, and the creative arts.

Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda better known by her stage name MzVee, is an afropop, dancehall and R&B artiste. Following the split of her girl band ‘D3’ in 2013, she  launched her solo career with début single ‘Borkor Borkor’ released in January 2014, and launched her début album in November 2014.

MzVee has obviously graduated from the Ghanaian rising stars category as she is regarded as one of the dance hall  big wigs there are, having bagged numerous awards and nominations both nationally and internationally. Way to go MzVee!
