Really sad, the mourning for over 50 people who lost their lives in the Kintampo accident continues in the country, as Nana Addo, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), prays for the recovery of the badly injured victims of the accident. A gory accident occurred on Wednesday night at the Kintampo Waterfalls Junction in the Brong Ahafo region. It was reported that a Kumasi bound Metro bus collided with another truck loaded with tomatoes, and headed for Accra from Burkina Faso.
It was really an ugly and painful sight at the scene of the accident as not less than 50 of the passengers on the Metro bus were said to have died on the spot and and many others badly injured.
NPP’s Nana Addo in a series of tweets expressed his condolences to the families of those who had lost there lives and equally prayed a speedy recovery for the injured ones. One of his tweets read;
”My condolences to the families who lost loved ones in yesterday’s gruesome accident on the Kintampo-Tamale highway”
He equally had this to say:
President Mahama also describing the accident as “very sad news”,. expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the accident, He equally took to social media to post several condolence messages.
Mahama had posted that he
“received the sad news of an accident involving an M.M.T. bus on the Kintampo-Tamale road. Condolences to those who’ve lost loved ones. Emergency services working to attend to injured passengers. Very sad news”
According to some reports, the Metro Mass Transit bus had developed a brake problem when it got to Techiman. After efforts to fix the problem did not seem effective, the driver determined on reaching his destination, continued. And on reaching a sharp curve, had it brakes fail and rammed into the truck.
Eyewitnesses said the engine of the bus fell off from the bus due to the impact of the accident and trapped passengers underneath the bus. The injured victims are all currently under treatment in the hospital.
