Nana Addo who is the flag bearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is presenting what his party believes is the ‘real’ State Of The Nation Address. He had made an announcement on Friday, February 26 on his twitter page that he would be presenting a state of affair address today, February 29.
Obvious enough, the address is to present the contradictions of the President’s earlier given State of the nation address.
NPP’s Nana Addo is presently at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, for the event. Former President John Kufuor, among other dignitaries are said to be all present at the venue.
This NPP event is said to point out those areas which President Mahama has not done justice to. NPP parliamentary candidate Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is said to be the Master of Ceremony (MC) for the event. He had hinted that Nana Addo will also present some fresh ideas in addition to his party’s State of the Nation Address.
National Chairman Freddie Blay has said that the president “did not talk about things that we do not consider to be the true State of the Nation Address”
Also as the event proceeds, a little period of silence was observed for the NPP late Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, JB Danquah.
President Mahama has delivered his last state of the nation address to the people and has listed the achievements of his administration over the past four years. He emphasized his achievements very much on the Health sector, energy, and education.
However, some do not totally agree with him. This is seen as people in the likes of Ursula Owusu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West described Mahama’s achievements in office as a job well done in mediocrity. Also so many other NPP members disagree with Mahama’s address.
