According to Citi News reports, more of the pastor’s followers arrived the venue Wednesday morning and have since then been protesting his immediate release. However, the police have succeeded in sending them away with the help of water canons and pepper spray. The reports also have it that the accused man of God has been transferred from the police headquarters to an undisclosed location.

Watch video below:

Bishop Obinim was arrested alongside one of his junior pastors by the Tema Regional Police Command Tuesday over fraud allegations. This was not long after the bishop reported himself at the station for questioning over an ongoing investigation of his flogging two teenagers in his church for alleged fornication and attempted abortion.

The Tema Police Command had subsequently transferred them to the Criminal and Investigations Department (CID) in Accra same Tuesday and they have been in custody since then.

Obinim supporters have therefore taken to the the police station in Nima to vent their anger. According to reports, the agitating supporters were chanting statements like: “No Bishop, no vote”, “No bishop, no Ghana”, “We want bishop”, “We love Angel”, etc.

Bishop Obinim who has recently been in the news for flogging a teenage boy and girl merciless during a live church programme was arrested not even for that incident as many may think. The Bishop is currently indicted in a new but even weightier crime of duping a man to the tune of Ghc11.6 million!

According to the CID PRO, ASP Joseph Darkwa, the victim had approached Obinim for a ritual of blessing over Ghc11.6 million which his family made from gold business. He was then instructed by the controversial minister to bring the money in question for blessings. This the dupe did, and his money got trapped – no blessings, no money.

However, after the man made futile attempts to have his money back, he decided to report Obinim to the police. This led to his arrest. As of now, he [Obinim] has not been prosecuted for any crime.
