Obinim’s 24 hour ultimatum comes after he failed to report to the Tema Police for questioning, following the viral video of him flogging two young teenagers of his church for alleged sexual acts. The controversial pastor has been widely criticised after a video of him whipping the young adults surfaced.

In the video recorded from a live broadcast on Wednesday, August 17; the pastor pull out his belt and whipped the two mercilessly for engaging in sexual relations which reportedly led to the girl’s pregnancy. The pastor who said the two were his wards explained while responding to his critics that, he flogged them in public to instill discipline in them.

He also backed his actions with quotations from the bible, saying it is biblical for one to disciplineshis children. But his justification was of no significance to the raging public who hurled more criticisms against him. The Minister of Gender and Social Protection Oye Lithur, reported the case to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVSSU) to investigate the matter.

More so, Tema Police in their bid to investigate the matter, visited the residence of the pastor in Tema on Thursday, August 18, but didn’t find him. They were then assured by elders of his church that Obinim will report to the station.  But the pastor did not report to the station as assured, causing them to issue him a 24 hour ultimatum to make himself available.

Also, Human Rights Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu, and some others, who believe the rights of the teenagers were infringed by the pastor, have filed suits against him seeking to have him arrested and prosecuted.
