President Mahama Congratulates Young Actor Abraham Attah


The Young Abraham Attah continues to soar high. President Mahama has like many others, congratulated the young actor for his latest achievements in the entertainment industry in a short period of time.

After his debut movie ‘Beast of No Nation’, the fifteen year old has featured prominently on various global awards stages and picked some nominations and awards. This includes the Best Male Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards, the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor at the Venice Film Festival, National Board of Review Award for Best Breakthrough Performance (shared with Jacob Tremblay), and the Black Films Critics Circle’s Rising Star Award.

With his invitation to present an award at this years Oscars which climaxed his strides, Ghanaians across the globe cannot stop singing his praises. The young star who wore a customized pair of TOMS shoes to the Academy Awards, has through that singular act, aided the donation of 10,000 pairs of TOMS shoes by the company to needy Ghanaian children.

President Mahama in the same spirit also took to twitter to congratulate the young star. He said;

Congrats @AttahNii. Such a positive positioning of the Ghana brand. We can do with many more Abraham Attah’s. #BeastsOfNoNation”

Young Abraham Attah, with no acting background and oblivious of his awaiting stardom, was playing on the street when he was randomly picked among other children to feature in the Netflix’s movie, ‘Beast of No Nation’. Starring alongside popular Hollywood actor Idris Elba in the movie, the young actor has made a name for himself across the globe.

Both Attah and Idris Elba have picked several individual awards, with the most recent being the Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Nationally, the young star has also bagged some awards in the country; He has got two awards at the Ghana Movie Awards. They include; NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture, the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead and the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer.

At the moment Abraham Attah is to star alongside some Hollywood icons in a movie “The Modern Ocean” by American director Shane Carruth. Quite a remarkable start for young Abraham.
