Similar to what he has been doing in recent times, Ronaldo yet again donates a great deal to charity.
Once more, Cristiano Ronaldo has proved he is still as charitable as he used to be. The Portuguese who struck home the winning spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out, which saw his club Real Madrid win the champions league employed a rather ‘too’ humane way of expressing his excitement.
According to a Spanish Journalist Pipi Estrada, Cristiano donated his win bonus of 600,000 pounds to charity and other good causes. According to the Spanish report, the former Manchester United player asked his agent Jorge Mendes before the league finals to donate the bonus which was expected to be around £456,000 to a non-governmental organisation. But then, recent reports reveal the bonus is 600,000 pounds which he still donated.
The tough competition between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid saw the two teams technically battle each other to win the ultimate prize. It had been a very long match at the much anticipated UEFA Champions League Finals and a ‘goaless’ first and second half, leading to the call for a penalty shoot-out to select the winners of the prestigious league. Saving the day, the 31-year-old scored the winning spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out.
As a way to celebrate victory, the Portuguese decided to remember the forgotten by donating his full grand bonus for winning the Champions League to an NGO (not specified). Having earlier been named the most charitable athlete on earth, Ronaldo has continued to live up to his reputation as man with a heart.
As a matter of fact, Cristiano Ronaldo, was named the world’s most charitable footballer last year. He is known to have supported a number of charities throughout his career, including UNICEF, World Vision and Save the Children. It can also be recalled that after the Nepal earthquake which killed over 8,000 people last year, Cristiano donated some huge amounts to aid affected families.
