Talks about controversial musician cum comedian A-Plus’ leaked tapes have grown beyond a fuss to an outrage as different groups and stakeholders have waded into the matter.
Not just joining in the conversation, a civil society group -The Dynamic Youth Movement of Ghana has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over the corruption allegations against the two Deputy Chiefs of Staff Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Boakye.
The group states that a neutral body other than the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) should be made key investigators in the case of A-Plus’ leaked tapes so as to bring the entire corruption allegations case to a total closure.
This is with respect to the emergence of the leaked tape involving the Deputy Chief Executive of the CID and A-Plus.
A certain audiotape suggesting there was a cover-up in the probe of President Akufo-Addo’s two Deputy Chiefs of Staff
has been circulating the media.
In the tape, the CID DCE, ACP Maame Yaay Tiwaa Addo-Danquah was purportedly heard advising A-Plus to deny the allegations he made against the Chiefs of Staff because he too (A-Plus) is a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
However, Maame Danquah subsequently released a statement to clear the air on the latest unwelcome development. In the statement, she accused A-Plus, of doctoring the circulating audio tape.
ACP Danquah also accused the musician cum comedian of releasing them as some form of revenge against the CID, for describing his allegations against the Chiefs of Staff as baseless.
These counter attacks are what led to the emergence of the calls for an external intervention in the case of A-Plus’ leaked tapes
Nana Addo Should Invite CID Woman Over Leaked Audio Tape -Azeem
Apart from the civil society group, Anti-corruption campaigner, Vitus Azeem, has also joined the calls for more investigations by an external body.
Mr. Azeem has called on President Nana Addo to the Deputy Director of the CID, ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, over the leaked tape which she said was premeditated by the musician.
The anti-corruption campaigner said that granting the CID officer audience over the matter will help to clear the minds of Ghanaians who seem unconvinced by the Police CID’s report from the investigations against the two deputy chiefs of staff.
Like the activist group, he also suggested that CHRAJ launches an independent investigation into the matter to bring finality to it.
Police CID Vows to Take on A Plus in Leaked Tape Controversy
The Police CID has vowed to take on controversial hiplife artiste A plus regarding the leaked tape involving the deputy CID boss.
The CID is convinced the audio was pieced together to tarnish the image of her boss and that of the police administration.
A-Plus had taken to Facebook to accuse President Akufo-Addo’s two Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye and Abu Jinapor of being corrupt, describing them as thieves planning to siphon public funds.
However, A-Plus’ claims were found to be baseless after the CID’s investigations into the matter. This was after the musician provided no evidence to back his allegations and the investigative panel found no wrongdoing.
But the CID Deputy Director said that A Plus called her after the CID’s investigation was made public, to express his dissatisfaction with their findings.
She explained that shortly after their conversation, the controversial musician threatened to make their conversation public as a form of revenge to her team for describing his allegations as baseless.
In the said conversation, Maame Danquah was heard urging A-Plus to retract his allegations because, the accused persons, like himself, were members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
