The Accra floods has left Dr. Bawumia, running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) no choice but to come down on the government and Ghanaians as well for the insignificant measures taken to curtail the issue. The Accra floods troubles Bawumia so much that he is blaming both leaders and Ghanaians at large for the pathetic incident. According to him all have collectively failed to tackle the problem effectively.
Bawumia who seems to have had enough of the perennial flooding in the country has said that the hazardous issue persists due to low priority attached to it. Speaking on Citi Breakfast Show Friday, the troubled Bawumia said that both government and the people have contributed to the issue through their incurable procrastination.
“We should all collectively blame ourselves for these problems because we haven’t prioritized some of the basic needs that have to be taken care of if we are to make progress as a country,” he said.
The past few days have been very traumatising and scary for Ghanaians especially in Accra following the heavy downpour which resulted to massive flooding in the city. Places like the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Kaneshie, Adabraka, Awoshie and Tema among others, were some of the worst affected areas.
On Thursday morning, a two-and-a-half-year old baby went missing after she reportedly fell into a drain. Despite efforts made by neighbours and National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), she has still not been found. Ghanaians are really hoping that this menace has not come to stay.
The country is still recovering from the June 3 fire and flood disaster which claimed the lives of over 150 Ghanaians.
