Actress Yvonne Okoro Reveals Reasons Behind Her Remaining Single


One would think she has men all over, considering her enviable achievements and fame, but the popular actress Yvonne Okoro has revealed she has been so single for a few years. Yvonne Okoro is undoubtedly one of the big names in African movie industry with many accolades to her name. The A-lister has a career, multiple awards to her name, produced her own movies and has a good sense of humor too.

But the Popular actress has revealed the major reason why she is still single to be that men are always scared of approaching her due to fears that she might be out of their league.

The actress cum movie producer revealed during an interview with Showbiz that she has been single for more than two years because men just do not have the courage to approach her.

“The issue is men don’t have balls to come forward to ask me out because they think I am already hooked or perhaps I am very high maintenance,” Actress Yvonne Okoro stated.



The interview which took place last Friday during the launch of Glam Africa Magazine in Accra, saw Yvonne Okoro reveal some of the disadvantages associated with being a star and a woman. According to her, most female celebs remain single because women of such category are always faced with the challenge of knowing who is genuine. This is because of the presumption that men only go after rich and influential women for their money.

In our society, female artists are stereotyped to be wild and spoilt women who might not make good life companions. The actress however, stressed that such is only a wrong perception of the reality of things.

Speaking further, Miss Okoro said that she is not after a man with so much money. According to the A-list actress, she wants a man who understands and makes her happy; a desire which is contrary to the stereotyped demands of female celebrities. She was however, quick to add that she won’t date any man who is not courageous enough to approach her, describing such men as timid.

Actress Yvonne Okoro made her screen debut in “Sticking to the Promise”, a 2002 movie produced by the Nigerian producer Theo Akatugba, just after her Senior High Education. The actress who has been in the limelight since then has got a lot of accolades to her name. She was named Best Actress at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards. Miss Okoro was also nominated for Africa Movie Academy Awards Best Actress twice in a row in 2011 and 2012 for her movies Pool Party and Single Six.
