The Angel Group of Companies, producers of the Adonko Bitters alcoholic drink has landed a fine of GH¢ 5,000 after the outrageous booze which took place during a show it organised at the Baba Yara Stadium on the 2017 Easter Monday. The fine was issued out to the group who organized the annual Adonko Aseda Bash in Kumasi by the National Sports Authority.
According to the Ashanti Regional Director of Sports of the National Sports Authority, Mr Richard Iddrisu Ewuntomah, the company landed the fine for breach of contract as they failed to keep to the rule stipulated for them ahead of the show.
Per the contract, the organisers were to ensure that no fan entered the inner perimeter and onto the pitch of the stadium in order for it to be preserved for football matches, but the rule was flouted. This led to a serious conflict between the Angel Group and the stadium authorities over breach of contract.
As a result, the stadium authorities seized vehicles and equipment belonging to the Angels, which according to Mr Richard Iddrisu Ewuntomah, will only be released after they have paid the GH¢ 5,000 fine; an amount he said will be used to repair the destroyed pitch and put it back in good shape before Sunday’s Premier League matches.
It was really a boozing spree, and actually one of the most disgraceful sights to behold after the Adonko Bitters show in Kumasi, as scores of revellers had their senses knocked off by uncontrolled ‘dosage’ of the popular alcoholic drink which was ‘limitlessly’ available at the show.
The organisers, Angel Group of Companies, manufactures of Adonko Bitters, enticed the youth with a free gate but on condition that each patron purchased a bottle of Adonko Bitters liquor at GH¢10. The strategy worked, as the youth mostly students on vacation, thronged the stadium in their numbers to enjoy the music of the celebrated artists.
Present at the Adonko Bitters Show were the Oseikrom big guns, Dancehall King Shatta Wale and Bisa Kdei. Other celebrities who graced the occasion include Ofori Amponsah, Agya Koo and Afia Schwarzenegger.
24 good hours after the all-night concert, the revellers, most of whom were in their teens, were still seen sprawled on the pitch like fishes let out of the water, gasping for breath. Below are some of the photos of the youths whose consciousness have already been numbed by excessive liquor and were therefore tossed here and there like helpless accident victims at the show ground.
Adonko Bitters is one of the products of the Angel Group of Companies, owned by Dr. Kwaku Oteng. The drink which contains 42% of alcohol was introduced in December, 2015. Despite its high alcoholic content, the producers have been touting the beverage as being medicinal and very good for the body. The drink’s goodness probably include its work on the above youngsters ‘littering’ the Baba Yara stadium in the above pictures.
Other businesses under the Angel group of Companies include Angel FM, Angel TV, Angel Educational Complex, Angel Real Estates, and Angel Mineral Water.
