I’m Not Interested in Nana Addo’s Ministerial Appointments -Kennedy Agyapong

Contrary to recent speculations, the MP for Assin North, Ken Agyapong will not accept position or ministerial appointment in the soon-to-take-over Akufo-Addo administration. Here’s why…

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has debunked reports that he is interested in a ministerial position in the new government to be inaugurated in January 2017. According to him, a ministerial position will not allow him the free hand to attend to his businesses; a situation which he says will collapse them.

As we know, speculations peak in every transition period after an election as regards possible political appointments in the new government. There have been many speculations about persons who would be likely awarded positions in the new government.

According to reports, people are using social media to lobby for positions from the over 500 appointments Nana Addo’s government will be making. Already, there are names circulating on social media, suggesting people and positions they are likely to occupy in the new government.

But Contrary to speculations, Agyapong will not accept position or ministerial appointment in the new Akufo-Addo government. Speaking on Adom TV on Tuesday, the MP said he wishes to remain a private businessman and create jobs for thousands of people, since that has been his achievement.

He explained that as a minister, it will be difficult for him to travel around to attend to take care of business and the likes. According to him, he can still effect change in people’s lives through his business.

As a minister, you cannot travel on your own, you always have to ask permission from the President and I can’t afford that as a businessman, it will destroy my businesses, he said.

Ken Agyapong however advised those lucky enough to get positions, not to engage in corrupt practices but use their positions to better Ghana and change lives.

Currently, the transition process from the NDC administration to the NPP administration seems to be moving along smoothly. We’ll keep you updated on latest developments on the issue as they unfold.
