It is a mournful atmosphere at Danquah’s Funeral held at the forecourt of the State House. As late JB Danquah is laid in state, many dignitaries converge to pay their last respect. The remains of Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, who was the Member of Parliament(MP) for Abuakwa North would be taken to his home town Akyem in Old Tafo.
Many dignitaries including Parliamentarians, government officials from the three arms of government, family and a section of the public are at the venue to pay their last respect to the Former Abuakwa North MP. Also present at Danquah’s funeral are some minsters of state whom are paying their last respect.
New Patriotic Party officials including lan Kyeremanteng, Yaw Osafo Marfo, Kwame Mpianim and the suspended trio of Kwabena Agyepong, Paul Afoko and Sammi Crabbe were at the late MP’s funeral.
Apart from being the MP for Abuakwa North, JB Danquah once served as Deputy Minister for Women and Children Affairs. Late JB Danquah was stabbed to death by a 19-year old boy who broke into his house in the early hours of that fateful day. Daniel Asiedu, the suspect had reportedly gone to steal but ended up killing the MP on self-defence.
Danquah reportedly seized him which resulted to the boy stabbing him repeatedly causing him to bleed to death before help came. Ahead of Danquah’s Funeral, Honourable Alban Bagbin, majority leader, described the late MP as a selfless individual. He said he was ”an honest and friendly gentleman who related so well with all colleagues from both sides of the device”.
The remains of the MP will be laid in-state for viewing between Friday and Saturday after which it will be conveyed to his home town, for burial.
