Renowned Highlife musician Amakye Dede has revealed the amount of money and expenses made at the funeral of his manager, Isaac Yeboah. The funeral of Yeboah took place on January 30, at Abrantie Spot Lopaz. On New year day Amakye and his manager were involved in a fatal motor accident which claimed the life of Yeboah and left Amakye with serious injuries.
The heartbroken Amakye in honour of his manager spent almost GHC 50,000 for the funeral as he revealed
”What I remember on paper is GH¢ 49,296; the donation accumulated to GH¢ 31,530. So after the funeral, I asked that they sell the car which was involved in the accident and add GH¢ 20,000 from the donations to the money they will get from the sale of the car and buy a fix deposit for the two children Isaac left behind,” he said.
Not leaving his manager’s family out, he equally duely compensated the wife and children of Yeboah during the funeral.
I also asked that they give his mother GH¢ 10,000 and the remaining GH¢ 1,500 was given to the family for transportation back to their homes. The amount I spent on the funeral was my way of giving my manager a befitting burial. I’m not taking it from anybody. It was my way of showing respect to my former manager, he added.
Amakye who is also known as the Iron Boy of Ghanaian highlife was on that fateful day, waiting on the roadside in his car along side his body guard and manager, to perform a show at the Paradise Spot, when a vehicle rammed into theirs. The accident happened in Nsutam on the Anyinam-Bunso road in the Eastern Region.
A lot of high personalities including musicians, political figures, executives and members of Ghana Music Right Owners (GHAMRO) and Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), and also, family and friends of the deceased, had graced the funeral.
