It turned out to be almost a record breaking event as English singer and songwriter, Adele bags four amazing awards at the BRIT Awards which was held at the O2 Arena in London. Adele proved she is the ‘it’ having acquired four of the biggest awards of the night, including Best Global Success Award, Best Female Solo Artist, British Album Of The Year, and Best British single.
The record breaking singer is said to have once won the British Album of the Year in 2011. According to reports , she is the second artist to win four awards at once in the history of Brit Awards, following Blur who did the same in 1995.
The ‘Hello’ singer got emotional as she broke into tears when she picked up the global success award, presented to her. One can only imagine how overwhelmed she must have been.
To come back after so long away and be so warmly received means so much,” she said
She however apologised for it, ”I’m really sorry for the ugly crying face,” The Tottenham-born artiste said later
No Adele!, we loved the emotion
The singing diva who was thought to have gone sabbatical, by this proves that her musical journey is yet to peak. It was a long and interesting event with Adele closing the show by performing ‘When We Were Young’.
Artists also paid tributes to the late David Bowie in their performances during the show. This included Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman who paid tribute to his musical legacy, and Lorde who took the vocals on a performance of ‘Spiders From Mars’, backed by the late singer’s long-term band.
Adele’s domination of the ceremony follows a year in which her song ‘Hello’ became the fastest selling single in the UK and also ’25’ which broke the UK record for first-week sales, selling over 800,000 copies.
