Black Stars Deputy Skipper and West Ham United star, Andre Ayew has continued to lend credence to coach Bilic’s recent claim that he is a “consistent goal scorer”. The Ghana ace scored twice to lead West ham to a 3-2 victory against Tottenham in the Wednesday night match at Wmbley. Andre Ayew’s brace lifted West Ham from two goals down to reach the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
The Hammers seemed down and out at half-time but led by Ayew, they fought back to secure the famous victory at Wembley.
West Ham conceded after just five minutes as a high defensive line was exploited by Son Heung-min’s pass through to Moussa Sissoko to stroke home. Dele Alli doubled Spurs lead on 37 minutes.
Ayew began the turnaround for West Ham by converting after Spurs goalie parried Edimilson Fernandes’ thunderous drive and the Black Stars deputy skipper poked home the second following Manuel Lanzini’s cutback. Angelo Ogbonna finally nodded in the third from a corner to complete the stunning turnaround.
Andre Ayew’s brace yesterday, has indeed nailed the fact that he has been directly involved in more goals than any other West Ham player, with 10 goals and 5 assists since joining the club in August 2016.
Recall that Ayew inspired both goals that led West Ham to a 2-0 victory against Huddersfield Town on Monday, September 11, at the London Stadium. The Ghanaian forward who did not begin the match with teammates was called off the bench in the 64th minute to replace Javier Hernandez, and in a few minutes made marks by assisting one goal and scoring one himself.
Coach Bilic who was overwhelmed by the victory had showered praises on the Ghanaian forward, describing him as a consistent scorer.
