In what appears to be the rarest coincidence in football history, the Ayew brothers – Jordan and Andre Ayew scored for their respective clubs – Swanse City and West Ham United right in the minute yesterday afternoon.
It happened that as the clock ticked 72 minutes during the Sunday afternoon matches, luck shined on the Ayew brothers who were both sweating it out for their different clubs at that time.
Jordan Ayew first scored for his club Swansea against West Brom at the Liberty Stadium.
Andre who is also a former Swansea star followed few seconds later for his current club West Ham against Burnley at the Tuff Moor.
Jordan Ayew’s 72nd minute goal was the opening for Swansea, with Fernando Llorente later scoring the winner that kept the club in the lead against West Bromwich Albion. Meanwhile, that of Andre Ayew was the winner, after he helped Sofiane Feghouli score the opening goal at 27 minutes.
The Ayew brothers’ goals both contributed in bringing the two clubs to a 2-1 win against their respective foes! Swansea scored 2-1 against West Brom while West Ham also beat Burnley by the same scoreline. At the end, Andre was named man of the match for his assist and winning goal.
This feat by the Ayews reminds us of their 2017 AFCON goals that pushed the Black Stars of Ghana, their national team, to the tournament’s semifinals.
Jordan and Andre are both sons of retired legendary Ghanaian footballer, Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew. Their eldest brother, Ibrahim Ayew is also a footballer, currently playing for local Ghanaian team, Asante Kotoko F.C. The Ayews who appear to have football talents flowing in their blood, are all doing well in the career.
