Bantama Gang Rape – The prevailing rate of sexual immorality has become so alarming and more calls have been raised for not just political but religious interventions.
A video of 4 young men forcing themselves on an innocent young girl in Jss2 has gone viral on many social media platforms.
The video which lasted for 5 mins and about 16 seconds reportedly featured students of a Junior Secondary school forcing themselves on a young girl for sex. The incident occurred at Bantama in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti region of Ghana.
The video has been circulating on social media for close to 24 hours with the young men taking turns to rape the teenager.
From the video, one of the guys believed to be the eldest firmly held the hands of the lady with his back lying on the bed and the lady’s back on top of him; allowed others to take turns in a distressing attempt to rape her.
The culprits, as well as the lady whose face has been censored, spoke in Twi as the struggle continued.
The teens who appear to be enjoying the act were not moved by the plea of the innocent girl who after several fruitless attempts to escape had to be saved by an elderly person(noticed by voice) who barged into the room to sack them out.
Bantama Gang Rape – Investigations
The video is fast circulating and the majority of the comments have been calling on the Ghanaian Police to do everything they can to locate and arrest the wicked boys and punish them severely.
Calls have been intensified for the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter and get the suspects dealt with to serve as a deterrent to others.
According to reports, the victim is currently at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital undergoing medical examination.
The Police say are on a manhunt to arrest other members of the gang, while the investigation into the incident continues. Police in the Ashanti Region picked up three young men believed to have taken part in an alleged gang rape of a teenage girl, a video of which has gone viral on social media.
