Vice presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has been installed the youth Chief of Sakumono by the town’s Traditional Council, with the stool name Nene Amedeku Sorgbodjor (II).
The traditional title was conferred on him when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Sakumono and his elders at his Palace, as part of his two-day tour of the three Tema constituencies.
At the occasion, the youth of Sakumono unanimously honoured Bawumia with a gift of carved wooden artifact called “the wise man” to signify his intelligence and truthfulness.
Presenting the gift to him, they explained that they chose it because Bawumia has always been proven right in all issues and arguments he has raised so far despite the numerous attacks and insults on his personality. They also pointed to his intelligence and competence, noting that he is a great role model for the youth of Ghana to look up to.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who ended the tour on Saturday, has pledged that the policies of the next NPP government will lead to transforming the Ghanaian economy to enable it produce the needed jobs and prosperity for the people of Ghana.
Dr Bawumia told the people that the NPP’s message to the people of Tema is simple and it is that Nana Akufo-Addo wants to really rebuild the economy of Ghana. Reminding the people of the prevailing economic set backs in the country, he pointed out what he called “the reality of what we have in Ghana today”. According to him, the fishing community is suffering, workers are suffering traders are suffering, the business community is suffering.
After the event, Dr. Bawumia wrote on his Facebook page to expressed gratitude for the gesture from the Elders and youth.
“I was honored to have been enstooled as the Youth Chief of Sakumono yesterday by the Sakumono Mantse, Nene Amediku Sogbodjor and the Sakumono Traditional Council and my stool name is Nene Amediku Sogbodjor II. I thank Nene Sogbodjor, his elders and the youth of Sakumono for this great honor.”
