Unlikely! Black Stars B WAFU Bonus: Local Players Yet To Receive WAFU Tournament Bonuses

Black Stars B WAFU Bonus -It hasn’t been all celebrations and thanksgiving for players of Ghana’s home-based Black Stars -Black Stars B, who won the just ended 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations.

WAFU players according to reports are yet to receive their bonuses after the championship their glorious victory. Ghana beat Nigeria 4-1 to lift the prestigious WAFU Cup 2017 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, September 24, 2017.

The prize money for winning the competition was given as $100,000. In addition to the Black Stars B WAFU Bonus, the Minister of Youth and Sports also announced an additional $100,000 package from the government of Ghana for the team, making it a total of $200,000.

But according to reports the heroic players were dispatched from camp without their tournament bonuses.

According to some sources, the delay is as a result of indecisiveness on the side of the country’s Chief of Staff in releasing the $100k promised the team by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Black Stars B management team claim that the prize money for winning the tournament has been paid by WAFU but they have been waiting anxiously for the cash from the state to drop in order to pay the bonuses for all the players.

This development has caused many of the players to express their disgust about the happenings as the management seems to be doing nothing to get the cash released by the Chief of Staff to facilitate payment.

The complete bonuses are supposed to have been paid the players before October 3, 2017 according to reports. However, 16 days after the lifting the trophy, there is no sign as to when the players will be given the bonuses for their hard-fought victory.
