Following the Ghana Bar Association’s (GBA) plea, BNI arrests Montie FM Panelists, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn, who during a discussion on the radio station, threatened the lives of Supreme Court and High Court Judges in the country.
The two allegedly threatened to “finish” the Supreme Court and High Court judges if they made any judgement against the Electoral Commission in the ongoing court case challenging the validity of the voters’ register. The duo were picked up because both the BNI and the GBA shared the same notion that their comments could spark trouble in the country, especially as elections are only a few months away.
According to reports, one of the Panelists, Mr Nelson has apologised and retracted his comments. He in a statement, admitted he made some regrettable comments against the judges. However, he was quick to add that there were some distortions in the public’s interpretations of his statements. He also apologised to the management of Montie FM for any damages he might have caused.
There have been vague reports concerning the second panelist, Godwin. Mr. Godwin who is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, has denied making threatening comments on the judges myjoyonline.com reveals. Notwithstanding intricacies of the matter, one thing is certain, the BNI and the police are working to ensure that the lives of those in public offices are protected.
