Court Issues A Bench Warrant For Wisa’s Arrest

As a matter of fact an Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of music star, Wisa. Wisa who reportedly failed to appear in court today was frowned at by many for his indecent exposure during a concert to an audience at the Accra International Conference Centre on Christmas Eve last year. Wisa is said to have exposed his genitals on stage for the whole audience to see during a performance at the Accra International Conference Centre on Christmas Eve last year.

Video of the incident had gone viral on social media with many mouths lashing the star for doing such. Wisa was arrested and charged with gross indecent exposure after the incident. He had acknowledged his wrongs and apologised for it, and also said he was ready to face any sanction from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) which also condemned such act. But that not withstanding, his lawyer, Jerry Agbenovor said he only showed a dildo and not his genitals.

The court was scheduled  to view a video of the performance to ascertain if his genitals was not shown according to the previous argument by his lawyer. But Wisa and his lawyer were absent in court. However, the presiding judge, Abena Agyin Doku had to issue a bench warrant for his arrest, and postponed the hearing for the viewing of the video by the court. The case however, has been adjourned to the 12th of February 2016. The ‘Ekiki Me’ hitmaker is set to witness more drama, as the court would obviously not relent in their sanctioning.

A bench warrant is issued when a defendant fails to appear in court at the specified date. All that can be said at the moment is that Wisa and his lawyer had better braced themselves for more drama. All ears are on the ground for the outcome of the case on February 12.
