Legendary solo composer and singer Elton John is currently in the grips of a very rare and deadly infection that has shaken his music career. The singer spent ten days in a hospital following a couple days in intensive care battling the serious, potentially life-threatening infection.
This is only one out of a series of ailments that have recently struck the artist. This most recent one (name still withheld), caused the 70-year-old to cancel all his concerts for the rest of April and May. Affected dates include his Las Vegas residency, the Million Dollar Piano at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, throughout April and May. Also, his concert on Saturday, May 6 in Bakersfield, California has been canceled.
Elton John was traveling through South America on tour when he contracted the yet-to-be-identified “rare” and “potentially deadly” infection. To be specific it was during his trip to England from Santiago, Chile.
According to his representative who interacted with the media on April 24, during his return flight home from Santiago, Chile, he became violently ill. Upon returning to the UK, Elton’s doctors admitted him to the hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection.
But after two days of intensive care, the “Something About The Way You Look Tonight” hitmaker is said to be recovering. According to a statement by his spokesperson, Elton John after being released on Saturday, April 22, is resting at home. Doctors have advised he spends time resting at home, seeing as infections of this type are both rare and potentially deadly.

Elton John Slowing Down on Appearances
Apart from his recent cancellation of shows, Elton John, the 70-Year-old now cuts down appearances for shows, tours, and events, following his ailing health. The ‘sacrifice’ hitmaker who had an appendicectomy in 2013, told the press at the time that he would cut down on gigs performances around the world, as he would love to spend more time with his children.
That Notwithstanding, Elton is expected to be back on the road for his tour on June 3 in Twickenham, England.
Elton John’s Third Party Reproduction
While it is a well-known fact that the 70-year old is gay, there is the much-debated aspect of his life which has to with his very personal affairs -his third party reproduction.
The advent of modern technology has made it possible for people including gay men, to have a third party reproduction. The normalization of these reproduction explorations has created an avenue for the likes of Elton John to become biological parents of children.
Elton had his first child through surrogacy at the age of 63, when his spouse David Furnish, was 48. The couple welcomed their second child through the same means at the ages of 65 and 50. So close to the demanding age, Mr. John wants to see his kids grow, which his why he is opting to take things slow from now henceforth.
Would that be Possible?
Quit the questioning and let’s do the maths. Now 70 and 55 respectively; when their younger child graduates from high school the couple would be 81 and 66. At his college graduation, they’ll be 85 and 70′ that’s if we can predict their lives in the next few years.
That said, the artist needs all the health boosters he can get, to stay strong for his children.
