Church celebrates Chelsea… Chelsea FC fans in Ghana took their love for the English club to a whole new level on June 4, when one of Ghana’s famous preacher-men, organised a church thanksgiving service to celebrate the club’s 2016/17 English Premier League title success.
It was all about the blues on the 4th of June as Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Markwei (an Arsenal fan), hosted a service at the Living Streams International Church in Accra to celebrate the Stamford Bridge title. The Chelsea thanksgiving service which was massively attended saw attendees who were in the spirit of celebration, dress in their Chelsea jerseys. The incredible DJ switch who was also present to grace the event mesmerised the excited fans with her rare talent.
The 9-year-old DJ who TV3’s Talented Kids reality show, kept the atmosphere lively with her captivating finger skills.
Chelsea supporters had Rev. Azigza an ardent Blues fan, to thank for the massive turn out. The man of God who heavily publicised the event across the country made invitations to so many people including none fans of the club. The die-hard fans gathered together to celebrate Chelsea who were 10th last year.
Giving sermon, Rev. Markwei shed light on the church’s motive to hold a thanksgiving service for the English side. Many had thought the concert was organised to make fun of supporters of other rival clubs. However, it was rather a call to “Fellowship with those who rejoice in your victory” according to Rev. Markwei.
Rev. Dr. Markwei told the title-starved fans of Arsenal and Manchester United who were in attendance that it is Godly to also celebrate the success of others.
Chelsea won the Premier League with two games to spare after a late goal by Michy Batshuayi secured the title with a 1-0 win over West Brom. Conte celebrated at the Hawthorns after having a bucket of water poured over him and being sprayed with champagne after Michy Batshuayi’s late winner clinched the Premier League.
