Ghana’s DJ Switch, nine-year-old Erica Tandoh who emerged overall winner of the last TV3’s Talented Kidz Show held in Accra, was given one of the biggest receptions you could ever imagine back in her hometown of Dadieso in the Suaman District of the Western Region.
According to TV3’s reports, the young record setter was heralded by a cheering crowd of men and women both young and old from her home town and other nearby towns as she rode into the town in grande style.
A durbar was organised specially on Erica’s behalf to mark her return, and as well celebrate her unprecedented performance at the Talented Kidz Season 8 Concerts.
Educational Fund to be Set up for Talented Pupils
During the celebration which saw chiefs and other prominent members of the Suaman Traditional Council in attendance, the regent, Nana Osei Kofi expressed excitement for Erica Tandoh’s talent and advised parents and guardians to endeavour to motivate and nurture such little beginnings for greater exposures.
Nana Osei Kofi indicated that the traditional council intends to set up an education fund for talented school pupils in the area in order to discover as well as enhance their talents. The traditional ruler recalled that DJ Switch’s mother who later became a teacher exhibited similar talent when she was young, but did not receive support to develop it.
“We will create education fund to help school children like DJ switch bring out their talents. DJ Switch mother too used to display same talent when she was young but we did not help her to bring it out; now she is a teacher raised to circuit supervisor position”.
Also Speaking at the occasion, the Suaman District Chief executive, Christian Baah commended TV3 for such an unrivaled kids reality show. He however urged them to start organising the show at regional levels; adding that government should collaborate with TV3 to broaden the scope of selection so as to accommodate more talented children.
DJ Switch Displays Her Skills
DJ Switch never failed to display her disc Jockeying skills at the grande reception, as she turned and twisted the knobs of the DJ controller. The crowd also could not help but danced and sang along to her tunes and mixes while cheering her up.
She also expressed her immense gratitude to the Traditional Council, the District Assembly, Ghana Education Service and fans for their massive support.
