Asamoah Gyan has taken a swipe at Patrick Osei Agyemang a.k.a ‘Countryman Songo’ for referring to the Black Stars as fools after they drew 1-1 against Congo in Kumasi.

It can be recalled that the controversial host of popular Sports TV show ‘Fire for Fire’ came hard at Ghana’s national team -Black Stars for failing to win the previous Congo clash.

Known to be the number one critic of the Ghanaian national team, the controversial broadcaster took a swipe at the team for their poor display against Congo which has seemingly jeopardized their chances of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia.

To heighten it all, Countryman Songo hurled insults at Asamoah Gyan, Captain of the senior national team, and called him a fool.

This was after the Black Stars captain innocently attributed the team’s discouraging performance against Congo to the players’ lack of desire to win.

While interacting with the media Gyan had stated that his team lost due to the absence of a desire to win. But Countryman Songo who was having none of that descended heavily on him.

He described the Black Stars captain as a fool, decrying his unsympathetic reaction towards the disappointing outcome.

Black Stars Won Return Leg

But to everyone’s surprise, Ghana secured a victory in the return leg of the match.

Ghana stayed in the hunt to qualify for a fourth successive FIFA World Cup after ruthless finishing gave the Black Stars an impressive 5-1 win over Congo in Brazzaville on Tuesday, September 5.

The result left Ghana with five points from four games, two behind the top spot ahead of Egypt clash with Uganda. Moreso, the Cranes must force a draw tonight to give Black Stars a realistic chance of qualifying.

Gyan Replies Countryman Songo

Gyan as we can see listened attentively when Songo rained insults on him and his team mates after their draw at the previous match.

The Black Stars gave Ghana a sense of hope in the return leg, and the likes of Gyan chose not to sweep Songo’s mockery of the team under the carpet.

In an interview with Hot FM, the Black Stars captain decided to hit back at the Fire for Fire host. Launching a verbal attack on Songo, in Gyan described him as a “destroyer” who only thrives on “negativity”.

He also blamed Songo’s bosses for their continued approval of his show which he said is out to damage and destroy.

Gyan who was on the sidelines when Ghana hammered Congo 1-5 in Brazzaville on Tuesday, referred to Songo as the biggest fool and demanding that he (Songo) must commend the Black Stars after their emphatic away win.
