“Gays Are Worse Than Animals” – Manny Pacquiao

World boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao has described homosexuals as ‘worse than animals’. This statement has sparked off criticism against the famous boxer in the Philippines as well as great controversy on social media platforms.

“It’s common sense. Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female,” Pacquiao told local broadcaster TV5 in an interview. If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gay marriage is outlawed in the Philippines due to strong opposition from the Catholic Church which is subscribed to by 80 percent of the country’s 100 million people. However, gay marriages are officiated at small churches but these unions are not recognized by the church or the state.

Pacquiao has been gaining more popularity recently, not just because of his boxing escapades, but because of his quest for a post in the senate come the Philippines 2016 elections. It has also been noticed that Pacquiao is bent on portraying himself as a true bible believing politician. This was widely noticed in his speech while giving out the 150 houses to the homeless in Sarangani province recently. Then, he quoted a scripture, saying he is giving to obey God’s command.

As earlier stated, his recent comments on gay marriage has been met with anger by homosexuals and the entire gay community. The country’s most popular homosexual comedian, Vice Ganda, posted #PrayForMannyPacquiao to his 6.7 million followers on Twitter as he tore at the boxer.

Some people think they can judge people like God just because they’ve attended a prayer meeting and read the bible…the Senate needs experts on politics and law, not blind prophets,” Vice Ganda added.

However, Pacquiao never shirks; he stands firm on his belief that homosexuals are on the wrong path as far as Christianity is concerned, stressing that he got his stand from the Bible. Nevertheless, in a post on Instagram to which he attached a photo of his wife and himself, Pacquiao apologizes to all who were hurt by his statement. He emphasized he is never judging or condemning anyone but rather saying the truth as stated in God’s word.

mannypacquiaoI rather obey the Lord’s command than obeying the desires of the flesh. I’m not condemning anyone, but I’m just telling the truth of what the Bible says. The truth from the Bible is what changed me from my old ways. 1 Corinthians 6:9
“[9] Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.”
