The trending Kalyppo challenge which we thought was already at its peak, got hotter during the NPP manifesto launch on Sunday. Over the weekend, scores of NPP supporters including celebrities joined in the fun challenge. The Kalyppo craze which started after a picture of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Nana Addo sipping the drink went viral, came at its highest peak as the NPP launched her manifesto.
Earlier on Sunday, a certain man took the ‘Kalyppo Challenge’ to an unimaginable limit by bathing with the fruit drink. The man in question, Emmanuel Appiah, posted the video on his Facebook wall with the comment; “Ain’t no water so i got ma Kalyppo”.

Think that was the peak of the saga? Former President Kufour on the same day joined in the challenge during the launch of the NPP manifesto as he was seen sipping the drink effortlessly during the event. Kufour’s sipping of the drink has been interpreted as his endorsement of the Kalyppo craze.
Scores of NPP supporters have taken the trend a bit too far by posting pictures of themselves in some creative and humorous scenarios with the fruit juice. The event which took place at the Accra International Trade Fair Centre, saw tons of Kalyppo packs flying around like release doves, as the brand witnessed a remarkable resurgence.
Traders selling the fruit drink witnessed massive patronage as NPP supporters flooded their stands to purchase the drink. Since a photo of Nana Addo sipping the drink went viral, social media has been abuzz with selfie photos of Kalyppo lovers across the country.
The photo which made rounds on social media, was reported to have been aimed at mocking the NPP leader. However the intended reaction to the photo was thwarted, as officials and supporters of the NPP posted photos of themselves drinking Kalyppo, in a show of support for Nana Addo.
