Heart Failure? Krofrom Residents Demonstrate Over Osei’s Autopsy Report

The death of 27-year-old Osei Tawiah, at Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region has continued to stir up massive unrest among the residents. In a recent development on the case, an autopsy report has revealed that the man died of a heart failure.

However, Irate youths of Krofrom in Kumasi are demonstrating against the Police over the autopsy report which exonerated the three police officers accused of having a hand in the death of the deceased who was arrested in the area last week.

The angry youths who have disagreed with the report, said to have been conducted by pathologists at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, are demonstrating against the Police for what they believe to be deception on the part of the police. They are demanding that the officers who beat the young man be prosecuted for their crimes.

Three days ago, three police officers were arrested and taken to the Ashanti Regional Police command over the death of Osei Tawiah in Kumasi. They were reported to have beaten Osei Tawiah to his death on suspicion that he was a criminal. The residents in the area lamented that the deceased was innocent and demanded justice.

The officers were apprehended under the orders of the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye and kept in custody till further investigations. The body of the deceased was reportedly taken for autopsy and the Police had said the officers would be punished if investigations reveal they committed the act.

The Regional Commander together with mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu and some other officers in the region had gone to the family house of the deceased to inquire more on the incident.  The police has assured it would investigate thoroughly on the matter.
