The case which has lingered for up to nine months now saw the late Adams Mahama’s wife bear her witness in court over the cause of her husband’s death. Speaking in Hausa, Hajia told the court:

“My husband returned home at 11pm crying in the car, saying I am dying, younger brother of the politician Paul Afoko and Asabke have poured a substance on me.”

Also, a gallon of acid was allegedly found at the residence of the second suspect, Asabke Alangbi.

Ekow Korsah who is counsel for Gregory Afoko complained he is yet to receive a police medical form stating the police’s own account of the cause of Adams Mahama’s death. Although he avoided stating that there may be a difference, Ekow Korsah who already has a medical report on the cause of the death of the deceased still complained he needs an official medical report from the police.

However, the state prosecutor made it clear to the counsel for the accused that no such police medical report exists.

According to late Adams Mahama’s aide, Zakariah Osman, the NPP chairman was in his car when he was stopped by two unidentified persons, and in an attempt to inquire the reason why he was stopped, they poured the substance on him. A car seat on which Mahama sat during the acid attack had been burned seriously.

Adams Mahama was then rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital and admitted in the intensive care unit. Unfortunately, the late NPP chairman could not survive the attack and consequently, gave up the ghost the following day, Thursday. He was buried on Friday, May 22, 2015.

It was alleged then that the incident was an aftermath of an earlier conflict between the deceased and the National Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong in Bolgatanga a week before. This makes the allegation of Late Adams Mahama’s wife to seem plausible.
