On the eve of Tuesday, May 3, President John Dramani Mahama alongside Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Sun Baohong officially opened the newly constructed Cape Coast Stadium.
Construction of the stadium which cost 35 million US Dollars was fully financed by the Chinese government as a grant to the people of Ghana. It is a 16, 000 capacity Ultra modern stadium.
Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Sun Baohong joined president Mahama in a special ceremony to finally cut the sod to bring the stadium into main stream activities.

According to reports, the Chinese contractors, IPPR International Engineering Corporation will continue to maintain the stadium for the next 13 months for Ghana.
Sources also say the MTN FA Cup Committee has confirmed the 2016 final will be hosted at the new Cape Coast stadium.
