President Mahama has been declared the Most Inspirational African President by the congress of all Africa Students Union.
3News reports that the fifth congress honoured a total of 16 personalities in four categories. The categories include; platinum, gold, silver and honorary awards. Ghana’s president, John Dramani Mahama, was pronounced Most Inspirational African President in Africa for the year 2016. This is in recognition for his exemplary leadership role in the fight against Ebola, Burkina Faso crises among other sub-regional and continental issues.
Former AU chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Clarie Dlamini Zuma was also named African Personality of the Year. Other platinum award winners include; the Chancellor of the University of Cape Town, Dr. Max Prince, President of the Gambian National Students Union, Ansumana Bojang, African Union and the Government of Ghana.
The All Africa Students Union (AASU), is an independent students body with equal membership from over 50 African countries. Its headquarters is in Accra. The congress is the supreme organ of the union and is convened every four years. Each congress among other things, identifies individuals who have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavour.
