A Flaggstaff House statement reports that President John Dramani Mahama will be in Abidjan, the capital city of Ivory Coast today on an official visit. According to the statement, the President was invited by President Alasanne Ouattara to the country.
He will be accompanied by his wife, Lordina as well as high powered government delegation. He is also expected to hold a discursive session with the Ivorian President after which he will also be decorated with Ivory Coast’s highest national award.
In addition, President Mahama will be given the key to Abidjan and an honorary citizenship of Ivory Coast.
According to stipulated schedule, will return to Accra tomorrow, Thursday. Mahama has proven to be a president who is greatly interested in building and improving Ghana’s international relations. this has been reflected in several trips he has he has carried out outside the shores of Ghana. These moves and efforts of the president have on most occasions yielded positive results.
We would also recall that, in March, the president was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law in Scotland by the University of Aberdeen.
It has been noted specifically, that under the leadership of Presidents Mahama and Ouattara, relations between Ghana and its Western neighbour, Ivory Coast has greatly improved.
