Mahama’s SOTN Address Was Just Tales – Nana Addo Trashes Mahama’s Address

On his own state of affairs, Nana Addo trashed the State of the Nation SOTN Address by President Mahama on February 25. The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said that President Mahama only told tales which are very far from the reality of the state of Ghana.

Mahama at his SOTN address listed the achievements of the National Democratic Party NDC in the past four years of his administration, throwing a lot of light on education, road, energy, health and road sectors.

But today at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Nana Addo who presented what he calls the real state of the nation address rubbished Mahama’s achievements saying that he failed to admit that the country is in crisis.

He said he was disappointed with the claims Mahama had made earlier as he did not create a full picture of the real state of the nation.

I watched on television in the hope that he will capture the difficulties that face our people daily. I waited to hear him admit that we are in crisis and I expected him to offer a glimmer of hope and ask all of us Ghanaians to help resolve the crisis in which we find ourselves…Unfortunately millions of Ghanaians including my humble self, waited in vain. President Mahama painted the picture that bore very little resemblance to the reality that is today’s Ghana,” he said

He continued that President Mahama was referring to another Ghana entirely. Nana Addo went ahead to emphasize what he believes is the true state of the nation. He talked about the situation of unemployment which was a very disturbing issue in the country.

Millions of Ghanaians wake up each day to the reality of joblessness and they spend their energies looking for non-existent jobs…Does the President have no evidence of the scale of graduate unemployment in this country? Has the President no evidence of the large number of teacher and nursing trainees whose three years and more after completion of their training are virtually sitting at home without being afforded the opportunity to offer the critical service for which they have been trained?” He questioned.
