‘Conquering Ghana Is My Priority; Not Performing Abroad’ – MzVee To Critics

Critics have refused to let go of MzVee. To the critics, MzVee performing abroad is a major criteria for bagging an international award.

The Beautiful MzVee has decided to address circulating criticisms against her nomination for the BET International Best African Act. Eyebrows have been raised by many following the naturalista’s Black Entertainment Television (BET) nominations. The reason behind most of the criticisms remains the fact that she has never performed outside of Ghana.

MzVee on the the talk show, ‘Tonight with Nii Kpakpo Thomspon’ on Viasat1 last Friday talked about issues concerning her international status. Speaking on the issue, she stated categorically that she has fans all over the world and that she is ready to provide emails and documents to prove that.

MzVee was nominated for the second time in the BET awards. This year’s category was for the International Best African Act. The Borkor Borkor singer was nominated alongside other big wigs across Africa.

Since her nomination, there has been questions as to whether she really deserves the honour. To the critics, MzVee performing abroad is a major criteria for bagging an international award.

She however explained on the show that being recognised by BET as an international act is not about performing outside the country but about appreciating the works such acts do in their individual countries. The A-lister said that a lot of people are ignorant about the fact that this has to do mainly about “hard work and what my music is about.”

She also rejected claims that she has a point to prove by performing abroad. Debunking such claims, she said that her objective at the moment is to conquer Ghana in the right way first, and not going to perform outside the country just to gain publicity.

MzVee still remains the very first Ghanaian female to be nominated at the BET awards. Last year, the 23-year-old singer was nominated for the Best International Artistes Viewers’ Choice award at the BET awards. While her critics question her nominations, the “Natural Girl” singer remains grateful to her fans for their huge support, while she packs her backs for her trip to the US for the awards.
