During his address, NPP’s flagbearer Nana Addo promises new region from Western Region (Western-North) to facilitate development in the northern part of the region.
Flagbearer of the Opposition, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo, has made a promise of creating another region from Ghana’s Western region. The NPP Presidential hopeful revealed this on Thursday, at Amoaya in the Bodi Constituency, on day two of his 5-day tour of the Western Region.
During his address, NPP’s flagbearer Nana Addo promises new region from Western Region (Western-North) to facilitate development in the northern part of the region. He stressed that the Northern part of the Western region deserves to become a region of its own. According to him, “a significant proportion of Ghana’s natural resources, such gold and cocoa, as well as food stuff” can be found in that part of the country.
It has been gathered that a greater number of residents in the Northern part have given the nod for the creation of a separate region, to allow for a more efficient system.
Also, the NPP flagbearer as a matter of fact, is not the only notable personality who has proposed the creation of a region in the Western region. It can be recalled that under Former President Kufuor’s administration, Former Western Regional Minister Joseph Boahen Aidoo, had earlier proposed a similar thing.
Nana Addo also answered questions concerning creating a District at Amoaya, during his address. On that he assured the residents gathered that his government will not forget the people of Amoaya. Having said that, he promised to create a District for the people.
More so, prior to Nana Addo’s visit, the current Western Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo, had also urged the people to request for such a move to be effected.
