Nana Addo will receive the Mother Teresa award for his exemplary conduct throughout his political ambition.
The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo is set to add yet another feather to his cap. The NPP Flagbearer will on Sunday, November 20, 2016, receive the Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice, at an event in Mumbai, India.
The NPP Flagbearer will also deliver a keynote address at the award event themed, “Combating Terror through Education and Peace”. This honour will be conferred on Nana Addo because of his exemplary conduct during past elections, and other political affairs in the country.
Explaining the decision to choose NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo for the reception of the Mother Teresa award, President of the Foundation, Dr. Abraham Mathai said that;
The manner in which you (Akufo-Addo) sacrificed your presidential ambitions by accepting to preserve peace in the West African nation of Ghana, at a time of high tension, thereby preventing civil war is truly remarkable.
Dr Abraham also said that Nana Addo ought to be admired and appreciated for his statesman-like qualities which have truly distinguished him as a defender of democracy.
The Mumbai conference is aimed at containing violent extremism and radicalization among youths in India and across nations who are vulnerable to radical groups in the emergence of extremist outfits across the world.
The event will also posthumously honour Faaraz Ayaaz Hossain, the brave Bangladeshi youth who was killed in the Dhaka terror attack on July 1st 2016. He will be honured for his exemplary act of refusing to leave behind his friends who were from other countries.
Human rights activists, prominent members of civil society, diplomats and members of the Indian government, are all expected to be in attendance at the event.
A big congratulations to the NPP Flagbearer.
