Nana Addo is far from being deterred by negative reports from IMANI concerning his campaign promises. The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made another promise to establish one dam in every village in the northern part of the country.
This will boost agriculture through a well-planed irrigation policy. Nana Addo said this while addressing traditional rulers at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
The NPP Presidential Candidate centered his talks at Bolgatanga on agriculture (improved farming). Nana Addo’s 1 village 1 dam policy according to him, will bring about an improved irrigation system which will support farmers across the country.
He said that his government will provide functioning irrigation infrastructure through the 1 Village 1 Dam policy, to create jobs and improve food security in Ghana.
The Presidential hopeful explained that, a good irrigation policy will make Ghana crop all year round, and eventually become a net exporter of most foodstuff.
Furthermore, the NPP’s flagbearer said he will resuscitate the dormant Zuarungu Meat Factory and the Pwalugu Tomato Factory.
Nana Addo had earlier promised Ghanaians he would build one factory for one district if elected. But a little controversy had ensued following his declaration, as the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) had claimed it was the originator of the idea.
Contending political parties including the NPP, have had their campaign promises analysed and questioned by policy think tank, IMANI.
The body had in a recent statement, said that only one out of the NPP’s promises, is measurable. But the NPP’s flagbearer has remained undeterred despite the ‘bumps’ on the way.
He has assured the people of Bolgatanga, that they will witness a brand new and better era of agriculture, if he is voted for in the coming elections.
